Physiotherapy Services in Cumbria

If you’re living with pain, recovering from injury or surgery, or managing a long-term health condition, the right physiotherapy support can make a real difference. I offer evidence-based, personalised care to help you move better, feel stronger, and get back to doing the things you enjoy.

I’m a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 25 years of experience and fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), so you can feel confident you're in safe, experienced hands.

I specialise in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic physiotherapy and provide professional physiotherapy services in Cockermouth and Wigton, with community-based rehabilitation available across Cumbria where needed.

What physiotherapy can help with...

  • Sports injuries and soft tissue damage
  • Spinal conditions, such as back or neck pain, including nerve-related symptoms
  • Joint issues, such as arthritis or trauma-related injuries
  • Fractures and recovery after surgery
  • Pre- and post-operative rehabilitation to support recovery and improve outcomes
  • Chronic pain and long-term conditions
  • Complex cases, including multiple and polytrauma-related injuries

Every treatment plan is tailored to your individual recovery goals. Whether you want to return to a favourite activity, manage daily life more comfortably, or prepare for or recover from surgery, we’ll work together to find what works best for you.

My approach to physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is about more than just exercises. It starts with listening: understanding what’s going on in your body, how it’s affecting your life, and what matters most in your recovery.

I use a mix of manual therapy, rehabilitation exercises, movement-based work and education to support your progress. My clinical experience means I can often identify and treat more complex or unclear issues, and know when further investigations or referrals are needed.

Why I love being a physiotherapist

For me, physiotherapy is about helping people get back to doing what they love. Whether that’s walking the fells, playing sport, working without discomfort, or simply feeling more comfortable in daily life.

The variety of people I work with and the progress we make together is what keeps me loving what I do after so many years!

TESTIMONIALS

"I could not recommend Sarah more highly. She worked closely with me through a frozen shoulder condition from the early days, through the painful and debilitating days and through to recovery over the period of nearly one year. I found Sarah to be a proactive, knowledgeable and skilful practitioner who listens carefully to clients and tailors a programme to suit their particular needs and lifestyle. A year of physio is quite a commitment and it felt like we were working together to meet my goal of a full recovery. As well as the physiological side of things, she's also a genuinely pleasant and optimistic professional and that makes appointments a positive experience."

"Sarah has fantastic knowledge about physiotherapy and how the different body parts work together. She uses different techniques effectively to help affected areas. The exercises that she recommends are simple but effective. The best physiotherapist I have seen as she listens, tracks progress, amends exercises to ability and improves affected areas. Would give 10* if I could!"

"I have been treated by Sarah for well over 12 months now and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Prior to me knee replacement surgery Sarah helped me to keep as mobile and pain free as possible and ensured I was as strong as possible, given my limitation, ahead of my surgery. Post operatively Sarah has helped me to keep strong and motivated with my exercises, kept me going when things were really tough and facilitated a really positive outcome for me. I don't see her regularly now but she would be my number one "go to person" for any problems in the future."

"Amazing professional! She helped me to prepare for my ACL and osteotomy surgery and after the surgery she was part of the whole recovery journey. She was always in a good mood, supporting and pushing when necessary. Focusing on my specific needs she tailormade every session between physiotherapy and hydrotherapy."
